Two styles of Hatha yoga are offered at TBS:

AKHANDA YOGA

Cathy offers Hatha yoga Akhanda style. An overall holistic approach to yoga including a balanced sequence of physical poses, breathing  techniques, mantras , relaxation and meditation.

What is Akhanda Yoga?
Akhanda means “whole” or “indivisible”. In an Akhanda  class themes are used to weave various aspect of yoga theory and practice together into a tapestry that offers students a powerful experience and an experiential toolkit for their journey.
Cathy trained in India, the birth place of Yoga. She obtained her 200 hours diploma in Nasik, India in 2009, qualified in yoga as a therapy in 2010 and in November 2011 did 500 hours teacher training with Yogi Vishveketu at the Anand Prakash Ashram in Rishikesh , India.

IYENGAR YOGA

Classes in Iyengar yoga are provided by Catherine Barnes-Holt on Friday mornings (10.30 – 12.00) at The Broadway Studio

Iyengar Yoga, created by B. K. S. Iyengar, is a form of Hatha Yoga known for its use of props, such as belts, blocks, and blankets, as aids in performing asanas (postures). The props enable students to perform the asanas correctly, minimising the risk of injury or strain, and making the postures accessible to both young and old. The development of strength, mobility and stability are emphasized through the asanas.

Friday: 10.30 – 12.00

Cost: £15 to drop-in or £60 for 5 classes (valid for 6 weeks)

Info: A 90 minute general level class suitable for both beginners and also students with experience.
